Be not so nervous, be not so frail.
Name: Genji Shimada
Gender: Genderfluid (Usually male pronouns)
Sexuality: Gay
Personality: Genji Shimada was once one of two great dragon lords that ruled over the skies in Japan. Seeking power, his brother, the dragon of the south, attacked and turned on his brother, waging war upon him in the heavens. The smaller, lesser dragon of the north was cast to earth, falling from the heavens like a satellite, and crash landed in Hanamura, Japan during one of the worst storms of their history. As if by fate, the new mortal was found by Overwatch's prestigious Angela Ziegler, who was able to save as much of Genji's human body as possible, but horrendous damage had been done. He has been paralyzed through and through from his neck and back snapping, and all of his limbs had to be amputated, hardly clinging to life when Angela found him. Ninety percent of his body is covered in nasty scars and burns, and he will not go out into public without wearing his mask, unless he's being accompanied by his friends or family to reassure him and give him strength. When Genji first landed on earth everything was foreign, new, and scary, even his body was a stranger to himself. He was blind, and could only speak Japanese. And he was angry. He had to constantly be sedated or tranquilized for Angela to work on him at all or try to find out more about him, where he came from, who he is. As his eyes were removed and implanted with artificial ones and Genji began to be able to see again, he fixated on Angela and calmed in her presence, listening to her voice and being still and calm, though she was the only one he would let near him. As time passed Genji began to learn human ways as his parts were fixed up and was bedridden, gradually picking up English and beginning to speak a few words, though it wasn't much, and he could mostly only repeat things that he'd already heard, such as just repeating Angela's words back to her.
When he was finally one hundred percent complete again, Angela introduced Genji to Overwatch, though she will still claim it was one of the worst mistakes of her life. As they turned him loose into training, arming him with swords and other weapons, he became a nearly unstoppable killing machine, the rage in his eyes running red. Genji's talents for being a quick moving, silent, extremely lethal weapon placed him for better work into Blackwatch, though Genji's rage was unsettling and often sent him spiraling out of control on the battlefield, leading to massacres of enormous degrees. Angela's superiors gave her one last chance to get her creation under control, and with a heavy heart she sent in the order for Genji to be re-stationed in Nepal, with the omnic monks, hoping they could teach him peace and serenity, and to balance life and death on his blade. Luckily, her plan worked, and Genji was soon in control of himself and his rage, his hatred for his brother and the hurtful longing for everything that had been stripped from him, and shortly afterwards his real personality began to appear. He was such a loving creature, loyal and forgiving, and also a bit of a prankster and jokester too. He was very wise and learned to speak English very quickly, though he still can't read it very well and his English is more broken than anything (He speaks often in third person and will say things wrong or otherwise make mistakes).
Genji is still Overwatch's top assassin though they only use him as a last resort when all else fails, he prefers to work with a team, liking to be around other people and trying to get along with everyone, though many in the organization hold qualms against him, for how he'd been when he first arrived. Like a rabid wolf, trying to tear everything apart in his path, and for looking like an omnic, something that the organization had stood against and fought against bloody battle after bloody battle. Genji utilizes shurikens which are tucked inside of his front leg armor and a katana that channels his dragon soul, and a short sword he can use to deflect enemy projectiles and bounce them back at them. Genji's speed and stealth is unparalleled, and he makes truly a formidable force in the battlefield.
Though Genji is centuries upon centuries of years old, he appears as a young man, perhaps only in his early twenties, and living life as a brand new human has set him back mentally a good deal, and he still sees things with a childlike wonder in his eyes. There is much he has yet to learn about living as a human, as he's only actually been walking as a mortal for about ten years or so. He's very attached to Doctor Ziegler and sees her as his mother, and Overwatch's Commander, Jack Morrison, as his father. Genji had a close relationship to Gabriel Reyes in Blackwatch, and still regards Jesse McCree as his brother. His brother, Hanzo Shimada, the blue dragon, followed him to earth about five years after Genji's fall to live with his brother and find peace with him, though their relationship is still very rocky and uncertain. Genji tries his best to not harbor ill will towards Hanzo, but he still remembers everything that happened to him with a ferocity because of his brother. One moment they will be curled together like birds of a feather and then the next they'll be trying to tear each other apart. Genji is in a very loving and healthy relationship with I-Am-Poisoned's Al, (ref not posted) who helps Genji a lot with his insecurity and worries about not fitting in or everyone finding him too ugly to love. Genji knows that Al is his soulmate and often states that if for no other reason, he is glad to be a mortal and be on earth because of Al. Genji's piece of his dragon soul manifests physically in a small, green eastern dragon named Fukkatsu, who acts very much like a cat.
Even though Genji can act childish and is extremely needy and clingy, and needs constant validation and love, he has shown to be extremely clever and fast thinking, and often finds ways around things and solutions to difficult problems that no one else has thought of. He spends much of his days meditating and praying, finding inner peace and enlightenment, and often speaks words of wisdom. Genji constantly flip flops back and forth between being brash and confident, to being extremely small and shy and quiet. He's very self sacrificial and would do anything to protect the ones he loves.
His armor can be swapped out and can be any colors and patterns you can think of, including but not limited to the ones found in the game. His favorite skin is Chrome, or when that one is being prepared he prefers Nihon.
Genji's mortal form manifests as a small, standard colored Shiba.
Genji is genderfluid but more often than not prefers to go by male pronouns, even though he's not very masculine in the first place. He enjoys wearing make up to hide his scars and crop tops, short shorts and dresses, other things on that nature.
Genji has body disphoria of the worst degree- and is often extremely uncomfortable with his body, and describes an itch that he can't scratch inside places he doesn't even have skin at. He will get rare, psychotic episodes in which he will tear up his metal limbs trying to scratch and has even almost disemboweled himself before on multiple occasions. He has a dragon soul, inside a human body that has been augmented with cyborg parts. He often doesn't know who he is and sort of floats beside himself a lot, dazed and confused, but can still function on a day to day basis.
